THE ARTIFICIAL CHEMICAL ELEMENTS - TECHNETIUM (Tc, Z=43)

The artificial synthetic chemical elements is one that Technetium. It's doesn't occur naturally and it's first synthetic generated artificial elements. Atomic number Z=43
and it's long lived isotopes of Technetium has half- life 4.2 million years. By earth was formed has long since decayed. Technetium is produced in red giant stars in the universe.
This elements most widely used to isotope of Technetium is, ⁹⁹mTc, where the " m" indicates a metastable isotopes. Technetium - 99m emits higher - energy γ-rays. But having a relativity short half-life of 6.01 hours.
This kinds of properties making the isotopes particularly attractive for use in vivo as the γ-rays energy is sufficient for to be detected the body and half-life. It's means that most of it will have decayed within 24 hours.
Consequently, ⁹⁹mTc, used world wide for nuclear medicines.   The radiopharmaceuticals, used for imaging and functions of studies of the brain, bones, blood, lungs, liver, thyroid gland, heart and kidneys. And this isotopes generated through nuclear fission in nuclear power plants but a much useful of laboratory source of the isotopes is a Technetium generator, which uses of decay of  ⁹⁹Mo to ⁹⁹mTc. The half-life of ⁹⁹M is 66 hours.
It's make more convenient for transport and storage than ⁹⁹Tc itself. Most commercial generators are based on ⁹⁹Mo in the form of the molybdate ion, MoO₄²⁻ absorbed on Al₂O₃. The ⁹⁹MoO²₄⁻ ion decay to the PERTECHNETATE ion,  ⁹⁹mTcO₄⁻, which less tightly bound to the alumina. STERILE SALINE solution is washed through a column of the immobilized  ⁹⁹Mo and the ⁹⁹Tc solution is collected.
